Online Training


ALL VOLUNTEERS ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE AYSO SAFE HAVEN, CDC CONCUSSION AWARENESS AND THE SUDDEN CARDIAC ARREST COURSES.  These courses can be found on ETRAINU.  Instructions are as follows:

From the AYSO Region 113 Home page, click on My Account > Volunteer > below My Roles and Certificates, click on My Training.

This will open a new window in ETRAINU (https://ayso.learn-usa.etrainu.com/)

Click on Training Library from the column on the left.

Under Course Categories/ Safe Haven, click View Courses.

Click Enroll for AYSO's SafeHaven - Online, CDC Concussion Awareness -  Online or Sudden Cardiac Arrest - Online.

Complete all courses and print or save your certificates of completion.


How to take the Online 8U Official course:

From the AYSO Region 113 Home page, click on My Account > click on the Volunteer tab > below My roles and Certificates, click on the My Training tab.

This will open a new window to ETRAINU (https://ayso.learn-usa.etrainu.com/).

Click on Training Library from the column on the left.

Under Course Categories/ Refereeing, click on View Courses.

Click and enroll under 8U Official Course - Online.  Click Start.

If you happen to walk away from your computer, you can return to the course by by clicking on My Training > View 8U Official Course - Online.

Complete the modules and print or save your certificate of completion.

10U and 12U Referee Certification  (Basic/Regional Referee Training)



AYSO Basic/Regional Referee certification is a 2 step process.

Step 1 is to complete the prerequisite Online Training Course (instructions below).  Step 2 is to register, attend and complete a Regional Referee Online Companion Course.  Dates to be announced as they are scheduled.

Step 1:  Take and pass the Regional Referee Training Online Course.

From the Region 113 website, click on the My Account tab > click on the Volunteer tab > below My Roles and Certificates, click on the My Training tab.

This will open a new window to ETRAINU  (https://ayso.learn-usa.etrainu.com/).

Click on Training Library from the column on the left.

Under Course Categories / Refereeing, click on View Courses.

Click and enroll under Regional Referee Training - Online > Click Start.

If you happen to walk away from your computer, you can return to the course by clicking on My Training > View Regional Referee Training - Online.

Complete all 10 modules and print or save your certificate of completion.

Step 2:  Attend and pass the Regionl Referee Online Companion Course. 


From the Region 113 website, click on the My Account tab > click on the Volunteer tab > below My Roles and Certificates, click on the My Training tab. 

This will open a new window to ETRAINU (https://ayso.learn-usa.etrainu.com/)

Click on the Training Event tab from the column on the left.

Below Training Event/Regions, search for "Region 113".

Use the calendar to find the dates our region is offering courses and enroll on that date.

Once enrolled, you will have access to the course content under My Training in the column on the left.  You will also receive a confirmation email.

You can also search for other regions holding this course and attend out of region.  Courses will be announced as the are scheduled.


What to Bring with you to the Basic Referee Companion Course:
• Dress appropriately (expect to do some running)
• Comfortable shoes
• Wristwatch (mobile phones or stopwatches on a neck lanyard are not appropriate for timekeeping during 10U and older games)
• Seating, chair or stool
• Sunscreen
• Water or beverage
• Note taking implements
* masks are encouraged 

Candidates will be required to attend the entire Companion course for certification.  Course will consist of review of Laws of the Game for 10U and 12U games with emphasis on timekeeping, foul recognition and offside, center and assistant referee mechanics, on-field scrimmage and a Q&A session.

Completion of course will enable volunteers to Center Referee and AR 10U and 12U games and AR upper level age groups.  Intermediate Referee certification is required to Center Referee 14U games.  Advanced Referee certification is required to Center Referee 16U and up games.
